Two Arrests Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident caused the partial shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the T3 parking area.

Two more people are now in custody related to a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. They both are still being held, authorities confirmed.

The arrests follow an investigation into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the incident, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was among the those hurt in the event. Five people went to hospital for medical care and have since been released.

Police arrested a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault close to the scene. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Police were alerted at about 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of several individuals hurt by an irritating chemical thought to be an irritant spray.

The assault - an event that authorities stated was isolated and not considered terrorism - resulted in delays to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility for a short time.
